Topic Description

​​​Introduction:
Indoor positioning systems often face challenges related to accuracy, deployment costs, and infrastructure complexity. This thesis explores how BLE ranging through HADM, leveraging our existing infrastructure and potentially integrating RSSI or other data sources, can enhance location-based services in healthcare settings, improving both precision and operational efficiency.

Research Objectives and Questions:
This study explores the feasibility of leveraging existing BLE infrastructure for high-accuracy localization in healthcare settings, with a focus on BLE High Accuracy Distance Measurement (HADM) for precise indoor positioning. A primary goal is to assess BLE HADM ranging, identify its limitations, and determine the optimal parameters to validate its performance in real-world hospital environments. Additionally, the research will examine other potential applications, such as hospital asset management.

To achieve these goals, the study will address the following key questions:
How accurately can BLE-based localization be implemented using existing hospital infrastructure?
How can HADM be effectively integrated with BLE for high-precision indoor positioning?
What are the optimal parameters (e.g., beacon density, signal filtering, angle threshold) for HADM in healthcare settings?​
